The Sturch's Extravanganza of Nothing Very Exciting Home Blog Photos

Welcome

Laura and I are finally settled in Paris (as settled as you can be when 400 cars and 200 scooters go screaming by our building every minute). We’ve discovered after a week that everything we could possibly need is within 2 blocks– we have a florist, 3 grocery stores, 7 or 8 brasseries, one Indian and several chinese restaurants, a sushi place, a computer store, a post office, multitudes of clothing and household goods stores, two metro stations, 5 bums, 2 pharmacies, a role-playing game store, several snack stands, 4 banks, a jewelry store, and a porsche dealer.

One thing that is noticably lacking is a place to get sandwichs am?ricains– which is basically a half-baguette stuffed with sausage, cheese and french fries right on the sandwich! I haven’t seen one yet, although it may be that the french have decided to call them “sandwichs libres” as a defiant response to our “freedom fries”. The search continues…. in the meantime, check out the pictures on the gallery page at http://gallery.sturch.net.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C.S. Lewis
